New Jersey voters approved recreational marijuana in 2020 and launched adult-use sales in 2022, with a thriving market that has already generated hundreds of millions in revenue. New Jersey's cannabis industry employs thousands of workers in one of the most densely populated states in the nation, yet workers and business owners still face federal employment and banking consequences. Federal legalization would give New Jersey's cannabis sector the same protections as every other legal industry in the state.
